These rolls were really special to my boys. I thought they should stay a really special part of visiting Grandma, so I did not try to copy for home use. After Gladys passed, one day I made them and they were sitting on the stove when the boys came home from school. They said, "I didn't know you knew how to make those!!!" Grandma did not cook from recipes; I had watched her make them. They are still famous.... at my house.

Use any yeast roll dough. I start with Rhodes frozen bread. I cut 12 rolls from 1 loaf to bake in a 8"x8" pan. Roll it out as thin as you can. Spread with melted butter to just cover. Spread with brown sugar--to cover. Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired (usually not). Roll as for a jelly roll. Cut into serving-size pieces and place into pan for baking. THIS IS THE SECRET. I've never known anyone else to do this step. Pour milk into pan until it reaches about halfway up on the rolls. Let rise and bake. 350 degrees approximately 30 minutes (until center of roll is done). Cover with foil if needed to protect from over browning. Turn out of pan, bottom side up.

3 Tbsp butter/margarine 3/4 c brown sugar 1/3 c milk/cream
