1 cup Softened butter
8 oz. softened cream cheese
3 &1/2 cups of flour
2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla flavor
1/4 teaspoon almond flavor

Icing

2 cups powdered sugar sifted
6-8 teaspoons milk
4 teaspoons corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
food coloring optional


Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl beat butter and cream cheese with a mixer on medium to high for 30 seconds add about half the flour the sugar the egg the baking powder & the flavoring. Beat until thoroughly combined beat in remaining flour cover and chill for 1 hour or till easy to handle. Divide the chilled dough in half. On a lightly floured surface roll half of the dough at a time 1/8 inch thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375° for 8 minutes or until edges or lightly brown.

Icing

Sift powdered sugar into a medium bowl. Add 6 teaspoons milk, corn syrup, and extract. Stir vigorously until icing is smooth. 
If needed, add additional milk to thin icing more. If making colored icing, divide into bowls and add food coloring.

This was a Christmas tradition every year at the Miller’s. She would sit all the grandkids down and had them paint the cookies. Sometimes it was quite a challenge to keep the little ones from eating the Icing before putting it on the cookies LOL
