Ingredients: 12 oz. Elbow macaroni 1/4 c. Butter 1/4 c. Flour 1 1/2 c. Milk 1 c. Half & half or cream 1/2 tsp. Dry mustard powder 1 tsp. Onion powder 1 can condensed cheddar cheese soup 4 c. Sharp cheddar (or mix of cheeses) 1/2 c. Fresh parmesan 1/4 c. Jalopeno relish (or fresh jalopenos) 1/2 c. Panko crumbs

Directions:Preheat oven to 425º. Cook macaroni al dente. Drain and run under cold water. Melt butter in large saucepan. Whisk in flour and let cook 2 minutes while stirring. Slowly whisk in milk, cream, mustard powder, onion powder, and jalopeno relish. Cook over medium heat while stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in parmesan and 3 cups cheddar until melted. Add soup. Toss cheese sauce and macaroni together. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Top with remaining cheddar and panko. Bake 18 - 24 minutes or until bubbly. Do not overcook. Cool 10-15 minutes before serving. |
