Grandma's Bread Pudding Recipe

Break 5-6 slices stale bread into about 1" pieces. Put in large bowl. Stir in 4 c. milk and 1 c. raisins. Beat slightly 2 eggs and 2 egg yolk in separate bowl. Add to egg mixture ¾ c. sugar, 1½ tsp. vanilla, 1 tsp. nutmeg, and ½ tsp. salt. Combine egg and bread mixtures. Fold into bread mixture 2 stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in greased 2 quart baking dish (set in pan of water) for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until knife comes out clean.
