6 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 lb. butter
1½ c. sugar
2 tsp. anise seed
2 eggs
¼ c. brandy or more
¼ c. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter with sugar and anise seed on medium speed. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients and brandy and mix until well blended. Use only enough brandy to form a stiff dough. Knead slightly and pat or roll to ¼" to ½" thick and cut into fancy shapes. Dust tops of each cookie in a mixture of ¼ c. sugar and 1 tbsp. cinnamon. Bake 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Freezes well.
Note: The fleur de lis shape is traditional for these cookies.
