1 box oven ready lasagna
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
Some carrots, onions, and celery
2 24 ounce jars red sauce (good quality or homemade)
2 cups 2% milk
1/3 c butter
1 1/2 tsp salt
Pinch nutmeg
1/2 c flour
Shredded mozzarella

Directions:
Directions:
-Cook finely chopped carrots, onions, and celery in olive oil and season with S&P
-Add meats to pan and brown
-Drain oil
-Add red sauce to meat/vegetable mix
-Make bechamel in small saucepan
-Melt butter
-Add salt and nutmeg
-Add milk
-Slowly add flour while whisking
-Don’t stop whisking! Keep going until it thickens
-Spread a scoop of the red sauce into lasagna pan, then add the bechamel to the rest of the red sauce and combine
-Layer lasagna and sauce
-Put mozzarella on top
-Bake at 350, about 30-60 min

Straight from a northern Italian grandma, though modified to suit US available product sizes. She also added Parmesan and pecorino to each layer, but we’re not a fan. She’d probably have a heart attack if she knew we used jarred red sauce!
