1 cup Cranberries, washed and coarsely chopped
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 tbsp grated orange peel
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp shortening (butter, Crisco), Softened.
3/4 cup orange juice
1 egg, beaten

1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Over preheated 350 degrees.

Generously grease and lightly flour loaf pan.

Mix cranberries, nuts and orange peel together in separate bowl.
Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda, cinnamon (optional) in another bowl. Then cut into this flour mix the shortening of choice.

Mix into flour mix the orange juice and egg. Then fold into flour mix cranberry and nuts.

Pour or spoon into greased loaf pan.

Bake 60 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted comes out dry/clean.
Cool 1/2 hr and remove from pan.

Leave out cinnamon for a more cranberry orange flavor. Grandma Edna made this for Thanksgiving one year and it became a tradition each year.
