2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 cup dairy sour cream
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Frosting:
1 1/2 tablespoons soft butter
1 1/2 tsp. grated orange rind
3 tablespoons orange juice
3 cups sifted powdered sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease or line with parchment paper the cookie sheets.

Sift dry ingredients (flour through salt) and set aside. Cream the butter and brown sugar; add the eggs, vanilla extract, orange rind, and sour cream. Slowly stir in dry ingredients, blending well. Add the nuts. Drop by teaspoonful onto prepared cookie sheets.

Bake for 12-15 minutes. Top with frosting while still warm.

Frosting: Combine all ingredients, beating with mixer until spreading consistency. Place 1/4 tsp. frosting on each warm cookie.
