¾ c shortening
1 c white sugar
½ c brown sugar (heaping & packed firmly)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 small pkg chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Mix sugars & shortening – beat with eggbeaters on medium for 1 minute (stirring sides down). Add eggs & vanilla – beat again on medium speed for 2 minutes until very creamy. Sift dry ingredients, add to mixture, add chips. (I stir in flour mixture & chips with a large spoon.)
Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 6-8 min.

Grandma Hunter used to make these, put them in a metal canister with a piece of bread, & send them for Christmas, or make dozens & dozens for us to have at will during the Manassa Pioneer Celebration.
