1 c butter or margarine
1tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 c flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Cream butter and vanilla. Add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Chill 3-4 hours.

Preheat oven to 350º. Roll out 1/8 inch thick. Cut. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for approx 10 mins. Let stay on sheets until lightly cooled. When fully cooled frost and decorate as desired.
