1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 tspn salt
1 tspn vanilla
1/2 tspn baking powder
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tspn nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, blend shortening, sugar, salt, vanilla and egg. Stir in buttermilk. Sift and mix in dry ingredients. Chill 1 hour. Roll out on floured board to 1/2" thick. Cut with favorite cutters and sprinkle with sugar. Bake on ungreased sheet 5 to 7 minutes at 325º.
