8 cups of sliced apples. this is about 8-10 apples, pealed and sliced. Granny Smith are excellent for baking with a tart taste. Honey Crisp are also good apples for pies, tarts, or crisps. Reference photo from Betty Crocker.

1 cup of fresh cranberries
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 cup of orange juice

Topping:
Mix together 1 cup of Quaker oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup pecans chopped
1/4 cup melted butter- salted butter preferred

Preheat oven 350º

Mix apples with sugar and cinnamon-squeeze a little lemon on apples. Zap in the microwave for 5 minutes. Add cranberries and OJ. Mix and pour into a glass baking pan. Spoon topping over and bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Store uncovered in the refrigerator.

Nice to serve with vanilla ice cream. One of Pappy's favorite. Don't sub sugar with artificial sweetener. If you do, add 1 tablespoon of dry tapioca. This is another good product to keep in your pantry. It's hard to find, but when you do, buy it. It thickens anything fruit your baking with very nicely. It's bakers 'secret'.
