1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups flour
1/8 tsp salt
24 maraschino cherries

GLAZE:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp butter, melted
2 tbsp maraschino cherry juice
Additional powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add milk and vanilla. Combine the flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Divide dough into 24 portions; shape each portion around a cherry, forming a ball. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
For the glaze, combined of sugar, butter and cherry juice until smooth. Drizzle over cookies. Dust with powdered sugar. Or just dip the top of each cookie into the glaze instead of drizzling.

I will often make double the recipe because so many people enjoy them! They look pretty on a Christmas cookie tray. Remember to not throw out the cherry juice!
