Dough:
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Shortening
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Milk
3 1/2 Cups Flour
2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
1 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Vanilla

Filling:
1 Cup Raisins (chopped) --- 1/2 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Sugar -- 1 Tbsp. Flour

Directions:
Directions:
For the dough: Beat sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla together. Add milk and stir. Mix or sift all of the dry ingredients together and add to first mixture. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick and cut in 2 inch circles. Spread filling on 1 circle and cover with another circle. Press edges together with a fork. Bake at 375 degrees until light brown.


For the filling: Cook raisins, sugar and water together for a few minutes to soften raisins. Make a paste with the flour and water and add to boiling raisins and cook till thick. COOL filling while making cookie dough.
