1 cup of whole milk
1 large egg yolk
3 tablespoons of confectionary sugar
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1 pat of unsalted butter

Directions:
Directions:
1. Whisk together the milk and egg yolk in a small saucepan.
2. Simmer over a low flame.
3. Blend together sugar and cornstarch. Add to the pan. Stir well.
4. Continue to stir until mixture thickens.
5. When ready, immediately remove from the heat.
6. Stir in the vanilla extract and unsalted butter.
7. Use right away before a film firms over the top.
