2 ½ Cups Flour

½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp cream of tartar

¼ tsp salt

½ Cup Butter

⅓ Cup Shortening

1 ⅓ Cups sugar

½ tsp vanilla

½ tsp lemon extract (optional)

2 eggs

Raisins and nuts, if desired. (I have never put these in)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and butter with sugar. Add vanilla, eggs, and milk. Beat until fluffy.

Add dry ingredients, stirring in slowly, do not overwork.

Roll out and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 425º for 8-10 minutes.

Let stand a half minute before cooling on rack.
