Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Syrup Ingredients
2 c. water
2 c. sugar
¼ c. butter
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg

Dough Ingredients
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
¾ c. cold Crisco
½ c. milk

Apple Mixture
6 medium sized apples
6 tbsp. of soft butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375º. Combine all six syrup ingredients in a sauce pan and heat just to boiling. Stir continually. Mixture will be slightly thickened. Set aside.

Quickly mix the first three dough ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add shortening and cut into the flour mixture with a pastry blender until you have a crumbly appearance. Add cold milk and stir with a fork until a nice dough consistency is formed. Form your dough into six balls. Roll each of these out on a floured surface until you have six circles large enough to wrap an apple in each. Cover these as not to have them dry out and set aside.

Peel, core and slice each apple; placing each in an individual small dish, attempting to keep the apple shape together as much as possible. Measure out 6 separate tablespoons of soft margarine. Set aside. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together. Set mixture aside.

Set one dough circle out in front of you and place an apple in the center. Fill the center of the apple with 1 tbsp. of butter, pushing it down in. Put 1/6 of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the butter. Bring the dough up around the apple, folding and pinching in the fullness until totally closed. Do this to the other 5 apples and dough circles.

In a 9 x 9 greased baking dish, place the apple dumplings fairly close together. They may be touching. Pour all of the syrup over the apple dumplings. The dish will be full.

Bake your apple dumplings for 35 minutes and serve hot.
