1 c. shortening
1 1//2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
1 1/2 c. fresh cranberries, chopped
1/2 c. chopped walnuts



Directions:

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together. Stir in milk. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir into creamed mixture. Add oatmeal, cranberries and nuts. Mix well by hand.

Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400º for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
