Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 loaf white bread
1 package of Jimmy Dean sausage links
1 onion
1 green apple
2 stalks celery
1 t sage
1 t onion salt
1 t garlic
1 c chicken broth (more if not moist enough)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º
At least one day before assemby lay out sliced bread on a cookie sheet in single layer and cover with towel. Set aside and allow the bread to dry out completely. (You may need to turn bread over so both sides are allowed to dry out). **To quicken process the bread can also be placed in oven at 200º (single layered) for about 2 hours. Check frequently.
Once bread is dried cut into small squares and set aside in a large bowl
Chop the sausage into small rounds and saute
Saute the onion, celery and apple until tender in the sausage pan using the grease to coat.
Add the sage, onion salt and garlic
To assemby: add the sausage and onion mixture to the bowl with the bread.
Add the chicken broth and mix thoroughly.
The dressing can be placed inside the turkey's body or baked separately.
**Note, if baked separately add half cup of butter pieces on top of stuffing, cover, then bake for 25 minutes
**Note: when placed inside the bird, the moisture while cooking will soften and add extra flavor to the stuffing.

Personal Notes:
I have always made the stuffing both ways. I prefer to cook inside the bird because the stuffing seems to come out very tender and flavorful. I tend to make double the recipe because we always need to have our open faced turkey sandwiches the day after Thanksgiving while we decorate our Christmas tree. And if there isn’t enough Daniel lets me know!! There is something very magical in knowing that he gets to have a repeat Thanksgiving feast.

There isn't a bird big enough (trust me I've spent your entire lifetimes looking for one!!) so therefore I have to cook some in the oven.

The dressing can be frozen after made for up to 6 months to enjoy on a hot day when dreaming of Thanksgiving.....

Some of my best memories will always be with the four of us (others when included) sit around the table and share our blessings and just spend quality time together.

I hope you both create many memories around your Thanksgiving table with your loved ones.
