French Meringue with Strawberry Sauce Recipe

4 egg whites, room temperature
1/2 cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar

Strawberry Sauce:
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2/3 cup sugar
4 cups fresh strawberry's
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Beat egg whites until fluffy. Add cream of tartar and vanilla.
Continue to beat while slowing adding sugar until meringue is
stiff and glossy. Drop 2 tablespoons of meringue onto a baking
sheet lined with borwn paper. Repeat with remaining meringue.
Bake at 250 degrees for 50 minutes. Turn off oven until
meringue is dry for about 10 minutes.

To make Strawberry Sauce:
Combine ccornstarch and sugar in the top of a double boiler.
Add strawberries and cook and stir until thicened and shiny.
Add lemon juice. Chill and serve over meringue.

May make a nest by making a hollow with the back of a spoon
after dropping meringue onto baking sheet.
