**Granny Anne began baking this recipe every year for Christmas when she moved to Poulsbo, Wa. It's now a family tradition for all her descendants to enjoy it on Christmas morning wherever they are

*** We bake this recipe for St. Lucia day on December 13 and save a loaf in the freezer to thaw and then frost for Christmas morning. We also use this same recipe for our Epiphany cake on January 6th. For Epiphany we hide a bean in the bottom of the cake and whoever finds it gets to be the king or queen for the rest of our Epiphany party!
