2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup shortening
½ cup butter
2 eggs (slightly beaten)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups quick cooking oats
12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped toasted pecan pieces (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together dry ingredients. In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except oats, nuts, chocolate chips. Blend well with mixer. Stir in oats, nuts, and chocolate chips. Shape into golf ball size balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes. Cool on cooling rack.
