½ cup sugar

2 cups coconut
1 tbsp flour

½ cup cocoa dissolved in ¾ cup hot coffee

3 egg whites
½ cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
½ cup sour cream

1½ cups sugar
½ cup shortening
3 egg yolks
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Beat 1 egg white with 1 tsp of vanilla, until soft peaks form. Add ½ cup sugar and beat until stiff. Fold in 2 cups coconut and 1 tbsp flour. This is your coconut mixture.

In a separate bowl, beat 3 egg whites and ½ cup sugar until stiff.

Combine 1½ cups sugar, shortening, 3 egg yolks, salt, 1 tsp vanilla, and ½ of the cocoa/coffee mixture and beat for 4 minutes.
Add 2 cups flour, sour cream, baking soda and remaining cocoa mixture. Fold in 3 egg white mixture.

In greased tube pan, layer:
⅓ chocolate batter
½ coconut batter
⅓ chocolate batter
½ coconut batter
⅓ chocolate batter.

Bake at 350º for 55-65 minutes.
