6 Tbsp salted butter, softened
¼ cup brown sugar tightly packed
⅓ cup dark molasses
1 large egg
¾ tsp cinnamon
¾ tsp ginger
½ tsp ground allspice
½ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1⅜ cups all purpose flour

Directions:

1. Preheat oven 350º.
2. Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in molasses, egg, cinnamon, ginger,
allspice, cloves, baking soda and salt until smooth, scraping the sides as necessary.
Add in the flour until well incorporated.
3. Remove dough from bowl and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
4. Roll the dough out to ¼ inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut out shapes.
5. Lay cookies on parchment lined, or lightly greased baking sheet. Reroll dough as
necessary to cut out cookies until dough is gone.
6. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
7. Let cool on pan for 2 minutes before removing and cool on wire rack. Cool
completely before decorating.
