Ingredients: Cookie Dough: 2 cups sugar 1 cup butter 2 eggs ¼ cup milk 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 3½ cups flour
Raisin Filling: 1¾ cups raisins. Pinch of nutmeg ¾ cup water. Pinch of salt ½ cup sugar. 2 tbsp cornstarch

Directions:Cookie Dough: Sift flour, soda, and baking powder together and set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, milk and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients. Make into a workable dough adding more flour if necessary. Chill dough! Roll on floured surface to desired thickness. Cut with round cookie cutter. Place on sprayed baking pan. Add small amount of cooled filling. Top with another cookie Crimp edges. (My mom used just one cookie and folded it over filling, crimping to make (A half moon shape.). Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned. Cool on rack. RAISIN FILLING: Boil raisins in water for 5-10 minutes. Combine dry ingredients and slowly add to boiling raisins. Stir and cook until thickened. COOL..before placing in cookies.

Notes: My mom used to make these a lot when we were growing up during the depression and war years. Every once in a while the poor master would give our family a bag of raisins so-this was a perfect way to use them. They are a delicious sugar cookie with that yummy filling! Needless to say with six children, they were gone almost as fast as they were made.
