Version 1:
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. peanut butter
2 eggs


Version 2:
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. peanut butter
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. peanut butter cups - cut up
1 c. dry roasted peanuts if desired

Version 1:
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and peanut butter. Sift dry ingredients together and mix in. Roll into balls and flatten with sugared glass. Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.


Version 2:
Combine dry ingredients. Beat peanut butter, sugar, brown sugar and butter until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Stir in candy pieces and bake in 350º oven for 13-16 minutes.
