2 T butter or margarine
1 T chopped onion
2 T flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 1/2 cup milk
4 cups pared, sliced potatoes
1 cup cooked ham
2 cup shredded cheddar

Melt butter in a saucepan.
Sauté onion until soft.
Stir in flour, salt and pepper. pour in milk slowly while stirring.
Cook over a low heat stirring constantly until thicken.
Layer half the potatoes, half the ham and half the cheese in a greased baking dish.
Pour half of the sauce over and repeat layers.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/4 hours or until soft.
