3 c. dry bread crumbs (4 slices) - cubes
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
dash ground nutmeg
2 T. butter
2 c. milk
2 beaten eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
dash of salt
dash of cinnamon

Directions:
In buttered 8x8 pan. Add a layer of half the dry bread cubes. Combine applesauce, 1/8 tsp. cinnamon and nutmeg. Spread mixture over the bread cubes. Layer remaining bread cubes atop dot with butter. Combine milk, eggs, sugar & vanilla & salt. Pour over bread mixture. Sprinkle cinnamon over top. Bake uncovered at 350º until knife inserted comes out clean. 55 to 60 minutes.
