2 sticks butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups brown sugar
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 1/2 cups flour
1 cup milk
1 1/4 tsps. vanilla

Frosting:
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
powdered sugar

Cake:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Sift baking powder and flour and add alternately with milk to the sugar mixture. Add vanilla.Pour into well greased tube pan. Bake 1 hour 30 minutes at 325º.

Frosting:
Combine brown sugar, butter and milk; boil for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Add powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Spread over cake.
