Ingredients:
Ingredients:
½ cup shortening
¼ cup margarine
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup dark brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2½ cups all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
additional flour for rolling out

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening, margarine and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and cinnamon. Add to shortening mixture and mix until smooth, forming a soft dough. Chill at least 1 hour or until firm enough to roll out.

Preheat oven to 350º. On lightly floured surface, roll dough to ¼-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters into desired shapes. For best results, dip cookie cutter in flour to prevent sticking. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown around edges. When cool, decorate with colored frosting (or may be decorated with colored sugar or sprinkles before baking).

Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.
