1 c butter
1 egg yolk (if doubling then just use 1 whole egg)
¾ c brown sugar
2 c flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
Maraschino cherries or fruit peel

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter. Add sugar gradually and cream well. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. In a separate bowl mix flour and salt. Add to wet mixture and work until dough is soft and pliable. Roll into balls (I use 1 T size) and flatten with a fork after they are on the cookie sheet.

Place a piece (¼) of the maraschino cherry or fruit peel on the top of each cookie. Bake at 350ºF until golden brown (about 10 minutes).
