1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 round c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
5 tbsp. vegetable or canola oil
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour

Mix well, then add 2 more cups flour and 1/2 c. buttermilk. Drop in hot fat and turn immediately until done. Remove and let drain on paper towels.
