1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup Margarine or Butter
2 cups shelled, unroasted peanuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, water and the corn syrup in 3-quart saucepan stir until sugar dissolves. When boiling, stir in margarine/butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, to 230°F on candy thermometer.

When mixture reaches 280º, stir in peanuts. Cook, stirring constantly, to hard cracked stage of 300°F. Watch carefully so mixture does not burn. Remove from heat and add baking soda.

Place on butter pan and cool.
