1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef

2 stalks celery diced

1 carrot diced

1 small onion diced

1 quart beef stock

1 quart V8 juice

1/2 cup barley

1 bay leaf

Brown ground beef completely, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Add onion, bay leaf, carrot and celery. Fry slightly. Add beef stock, V8 juice, and barley. Simmer soup on low for an hour or so. Serve with garlic toast or biscuits.
