Warm Sauce
¼ cup shortening (Crisco solid)
1 pint water
2/4 cup sugar
¾ cup white sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons corn starch
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup milk

2 cups flour

½ teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Cake
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together and add to shortening and sugar mixture - alternating with milk.
Pour into 8X8 greased pan and bake.

Warm Sauce
Heat warm sauce ingredients to a boil and sugar is melted. Sauce should be smooth.

Cut cake in squares and pour sauce over the top. Serve with sauce being warm.
