3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup very sour milk, cream or buttermilk
3 Tablespoons lard (not melted)
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 or more cups of flour

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs, mix in sugar, Add baking powder, soda and salt to sour milk (will fizz up)
Add milk and lard to eggs and sugar, add vanilla. Stir in flour until mixture is stiffness of biscuit dough. Divide dough in half. Knead lightly until smooth,. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in deep fat at 380 degrees. Bring fat to correct temperature before adding each batch of doughnuts. Serve plain or coated with sugar.
