1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. melted butter or lard
3 eggs well beaten
1 tsp. salt
4 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
chopped nut if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter or lard with sugar, add eggs, slowly mixing add nuts.
Sift together dry ingredients twice.
Mix dry ingredients in with the wet ingredients.
Shape into a roll.
Wrap with plastic wrap and let set overnight in the refrigerator.
Next day:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Use parchment paper covered cookie sheets.
Slice cookie rolls into 1/4" thick slices.
Place on cookie sheets and bake 8-10 min. or golden brown.
Cool and store in an airtight container.
