1/2 C Scalded milk
1/4 C Shortening
2 tsp salt
1/2 C Cold water
1 Cake compressed yeast or 1 pkg. dry granular(dissolve as directed)
1 egg
3 C Sifted all purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:

scald milk, add shortening, sugar and salt. Stir until shortening is melted, then add water. When lukewarm, add yeast and dissolve. Put egg into large mixmaster bowl, beat on high speed 39 seconds then on medium speed. Add yeast mixture, gradually add 2 C flour beating until well blended, then beat in remaining flour on low speed. Turn out on floured board, knead until smooth, shape into rolls. Cover and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours. Place in greased pan, cover and let rise until doubled in size. Bake at 400 degrees about 20 minutes or until brown. Makes approximately 1.5 dozen.
