3 egg yolks
1 whole egg
1/2 tsp salt
1 T rum (extract or real)
1 tsp vanilla
1 C flour
1/4 C powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat canola/vegetable oil to 375º in a dutch oven. Use about 1" of oil.

Beat egg yolks, egg and salt until stiff - about 10 minutes.
Blend in sugar, rum, vanilla. Add flour all at once and mix well.

Turn dough onto board and knead until surface is blistered - about 7 minutes. Divide dough in half. Roll dough very thin (1/8"). Cut dough in 4" x 2" strips. Make a cut vertically in the center of the strips and pull one end through the center cut.

Fry about 30 second on each side. Cover with powdered sugar.

Personal Notes:
This recipe was something my mom always made at Christmas. I love them but still have a hard time with the dough.
