1/2 Cup Molasses
2 tsp Baking soda
3/4 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
2 Eggs
2 tsp Ground Ginger
1 tsp Cup Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Cloves
2 1/4 Cups Flour, enough to make a soft dough, and
*another 1/3 cup for rolling dough before baking

Directions:
Directions:
In a large Mixing bowl, cream butter, and sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in Molasses and egg and beat until incorporated.
Add in the spices, salt, and baking soda, mix well.
Gradually mix in the flour on about low speed, until combines.
Cover and chill at least an hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll 1 1/2 tsp balls and roll in sugar until coated.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet (or parchment paper) .
Bake for 9-11 minuts.
Let cool a few minutes on cookie sheet before moving to wire racks to finish cooling.
Store in an airtight container. These stay moist and soft for at least 4-5 days, if they last that long!

"Aunt Clara and Aunt Miley" as Grandpap (Bill) Elkins called them were his favorite great aunts, that were school teachers and never married. He is now resting beside them at Hewitt Cemetery at Rices Landing.
