Directions:In a separate bowl combine warm water, sugar (3 tablespoons), and yeast. Let sit until bubbly and about doubled in size (using that much yeast you're going to want to use a medium to large mixing bowl. Otherwise it will overflow) Once the yeast has activated add the evaporated milk, beaten eggs, ¾ cup sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix Add 5 cups of flour. Mix. Then gradually add more until a soft dough has formed - don't knead a lot. Let dough rise until about doubled in size Roll dough out to about ¼ inch thick. Cover with butter and fold in half. Cover with butter and fold in half again. Cover with butter and fold in half again. Cover in butter and fold in half again. Using a small drinking cup cut out rounds. Dip in oil and put in muffin tins
Bake at 400º until brown (I'd start with 9 minutes and check them) |

Notes: Grandma Great made these for every holiday. It just wasn't Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc without them! And if they got even a tad "too dark brown" she said they were burnt!
I've attempted these a couple of times and didn't have great success! Really you could shape the dough however you like! The way that is mentioned was how Grandma Great did it though :)
