1 c. raisins
1 c. water
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/2 c. flour
2 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. nuts (opt.)
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Simmer 1 cup of raisins in 1 cup of water until raisins are soft. Drain; save liquid.
Add enough water to the raisin cooking liquid to make 1/2 cup. Cream sugar, shortening and eggs; add liquid and rest of ingredients. Bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes.
