2 lbs. lean pork cut into narrow strips, 2" long.
2 tbsp. shortening
3 c. water, divided
2 bouillon cubes
1 tsp. salt
1 c. sliced onion
1 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. molasses
2 c. celery
1 can (1lb) bean sprouts, drained
1 can (6oz.) water chestnuts, drained and sliced
1 can (14 oz.) fancy mixed Chinese vegetables
1 can (4oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
6 servings cooked rice or Chinese noodles

Directions:

Brown pork in shortening in 12" skillet or Dutch oven. Add 1 cup water, bouillon cubes and salt. Cover and simmer until pork is tender, about 45 minutes. Add onion to meat, stir and cook until onion is limp. Combine remaining 2 cups water, cornstarch, soy sauce, and molasses in a bowl; mix well. Pour over meat mixture, stir and heat until sauce is thickened and clear.
