Ingredients:
Ingredients:
4 large Russet potatoes
1-1/2 large packages of Cheddar (or sharp Cheddar) cheese, cut into thin slices
1-1/2 lge. onion, finely chopped
salt and pepper
onion powder
garlic powder
flour
bacon strips
whole milk

Optional: add finely chopped green onion

Directions:
Directions:
Place a layer of potatoes in 9x13 baking dish.

Sprinkle lightly with salt & pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and onion; then sprinkle fairly well with flour.

Repeat layers until baking dish is about 3/4 full; then add milk until it shows at the top.

Add bacon strips to cover top.

Bake uncovered at 400º to 425º for 70 minutes.

Usually the bacon gets nice and brown before the potatoes are tender. Once bacon is browned, remove and place on tray on top of stove to keep warm.

Once the potatoes are done (they should be nice and brown on top), replace bacon strips for serving.

If after 70 minutes, the potatoes are not done and the milk has not thickened, turn oven up slightly and continue cooking a little while longer.

Personal Notes:
This is the recipe for my Grandma Cha Cha's famous scalloped potatoes -- a long time family favorite. It make take a little trial and error -- Grandma mostly cooked without following recipes.
