1/3 cup butter - softened
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
2 squares UNSWEETENED chocolate
1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup Boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º Lightly grease cake pan

Melt chocolate
Sift dry ingredients
Beat butter, sugar, salt and egg until creamy and add melted chocolate.
Stir in dry ingredients, alternating with boiling water and vanilla.
Pour into cake pan and bake 45 minutes.
Cool on wire rack, then top with Hard Chocolate Frosting

This cake isn't too sweet, even with the Hard Frosting.
It was always a treat when Grammie served it for desert!
