1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla1 tsp lemon
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup boiling water
2 tsp baking powder
3 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, sugar, add extracts and mix milk and boiling water. Add to creamed mixture. Add 1 cup flour and 1 unbeaten egg - beat well. Add second cup of flour and 2nd egg. Beat well and add 3rd flour and egg and baking powder. Beat
thoroughly. Bake for one hour at 325-350 oven.

To make this a fruitcake - flour 1 cup raisons, 1 cup red cherries and 1 cup green cherries.

Gramp never add fruitcake but his Mom (Grammie Redden) make this cake all the time and one Christmas she added raisons and cherries - and it became Gramps Fruitcake!
