Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
Preheat ½oven to 375º
Cream:
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar

Add:
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together then add to butter mixture
Add:
3½ cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt

Chill 3-4 hours in refrigerator

On a flour surface roll ⅛" to ¼' thick
Cut with cookie cutter of your choice
Place on ungreased cookie sheet
Bake in a preheated 375º oven
Bake 6 - 8 minutes

Icing for Sugar Cookies

Cut:
2 Tbl. softened butter into
2½ cup confectionary sugar

Add:
1 unbeaten egg white
½ tsp. vanilla
⅛ tsp. cream of tartar

Beat until stiff but spreading consistency.
( If too thick, add a little milk)

Icing cooled cookies
I usually make 2 batches of icing for 1 batch of cookies.
