Nanny's Corn Bread Dressing Recipe

Ingredients: 8 inch pan of corn bread (not sweet like Jiffy...Martha White if possible. Two pkgs Herb Stuffing -half a bag or 8 slices lightly toasted bread cut into squares 2-3 hard boiled eggs 4 eggs, slightly beaten 1 finely chopped small to medium onion 1/2 stick butter, melted 1 t rubbed sage 1 t poultry seasoning 1/2 t celery seed, if desired 1 t if using low sodium broth (less if not) 1/2 t pepper 4-5 cups reduced sodium broth
Cream Gravy 3 cans cream of chicken soup 2 hard boiled eggs, chopped 1/4 cup of dressing mixture before it is cooked Pinch of rubbed sage Chicken broth

Directions:Break corn bread into crumbs in big bowl. Add bread or stuffing mix, both kinds of eggs, onions. seasoning and broth. Should be like thick cake batter. Pour into well greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 400º for 45-50 minutes or until set and golden on top.
Serve with Cream Gravy
Mix first 4 ingredients and then thin with broth to desired consistency |
