4 c. flour
¾ c. sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
Cut in 1 c. Crisco (Aunt Sara uses butter flavored Crisco)
3 eggs
½ c. milk
1 tsp vanilla
¼ tsp anise extract

Icing
1 c. confectioner sugar
½ tsp vanilla
5 to 6 Tbsp milk
food coloring if desired

Directions:

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in Crisco. Add in eggs, milk, and vanilla plus anise extract. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 375ºF for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely before icing. For icing mix confectioner sugar, add vanilla, then add milk slowly. May need more or less liquid for icing. If not eating immediately freeze the cookies.
