Ingredients: Dried-out bread (white, wheat, biscuits, dinner rolls, cornbread
Turkey or Chicken broth (depending on quantity making... at least 8 cups or more)
1 bunch of celery
6 yellow onions
salt, pepper, sage

Directions: |
Directions:1. A day or so before making, dry out all bread so it becomes crusty. 2. Dice onion, celery and sauté in butter. 3. Crumble all bread, biscuits, etc. in a large bowl. 4. Mix in celery and onion. 5. Add broth from turkey or buy at the store (chicken broth is good too). 6. Add a few cups to the bowl and mix well. 7. Add 2-3 tablespoons of sage and season to taste (not too strong, but so you can taste the spice). 8. Continue to add broth until mixture is mushy in texture (not soupy though). 9. Add salt and pepper to your taste liking. 10. preheat oven to 375 degrees. 11. Scoop dressing in lumps in either a glass casserole dish or a large aluminum pan. 12. Bake for approx. 1 hour until the top is lightly browned and somewhat toasty. |

Notes: Nobody made dressing like my mom! As usual, it was one of those dishes I didn't appreciate until much older. If using the broth from the turkey you are baking, you'll need to make sure you add plenty of water to the turkey before baking. To be safe, it doesn't hurt to buy turkey broth at the store just in case you don't have enough. Most of the time you will also need broth for gravy so keep this in mind.
THIS DISH IS ALWAYS A BIG HIT ON TURKEY DAY AND IS GREAT AS A LEFTOVER!
